Created in 2024, these were my original four Dogoyle sculptures and represented one of my first narrative work. This collection serves as a foundation for my artistic journey, predating my residency and capturing the initial spark of merging the protective spirit of a gargoyle with the unconditional love of a rescue dog.
These sculptures are containers for emotions, demonstrating that the love and energy of a being is not tied to their physical form. A central piece of this series, Kona, was created as a wedding gift for friends. The sculpture portrays the partners dog as a symbol of the love the couple shares. These works of stoneware will outlast even those of us who give them meaning. The loving energy of the form will endure, preserved for eyes that never knew these animals love.
